Blank Control Materials (CM) are samples consisting only of the matrix, without the presence of the analyte, such as a Test Material of bovine muscle without the presence of antibiotics may be.
It’s known that laboratories are sometimes looking for Blank Control Materials, previously characterized, for routine use. These can be used for a variety of purposes, including:
- validations of analytical methods
- construction of calibration curves (control charts)
- monitoring of the detection limit
- control of errors in the blank that cause systematic effects at low concentrations
Blank samples may be difficult to obtain on the market, but such materials are necessary to provide a realistic estimate of interferences that may occur in the analysis of test samples. Whenever possible, Test Veritas, will endeavor to provide CM blanks, previously characterized during proficiency tests Progetto Trieste, for those laboratories that are unable to source them themselves.
CM blanks are currently available for the Veterinary Drug Residues and Metals lines:
- b-agonists in bovine urine and liver (code U2023-2/CM)
- Chloramphenicol in eggs and milk (codes E3102-2/CM and MI2100-2/CM)
- Corticosteroids in bovine liver (code L2401-1/CM)
- RAL in bovine urine (codes U2021-2/CM, U1201-1/CM, U2201-2/CM and U3801-1/CM)
- Synthetic Steroids in bovine urine (codes U2020-1/CM, U1200-2/CM, U2202-1/CM and U3800-1/CM)
- Stillbenes in urine (codes U2022-2/CM, U1202-1/CM, U2202-1/CM and U3802-2/CM)
- Sulphonamides in milk and eggs (codes E2103-2/CM and MI2206-1/CM)
- Metals in bovine muscle (code M3706-1/CM, except for the presence of lead)
- Metals in fish (code SF3708blank/CM, except for the presence of mercury)
